Pão de queijo are cheese rolls popular across Brazil that are made from cassava flour (polvilho). These are available in almost every corner (bakery, snack bar, bistros) and are not only eaten for breakfast. The basic ingredients are cassava starch, eggs and cheese. The main characteristics of this product are the crispness of the crust and the softness of the dough. It also has a very pleasant cheese and cassava flavor.
- Preparation note:
- 1 - Fügen Sie den Inhalt des Beutels in eine große Schüssel, dazu Wasser (2 Tassen oder 400ml) und 8 Eier. 2 - Verrühren Sie die Zutaten bis die Flüssigkeit aufgenommen wurde und kneten Sie weiter bis eine glatte homogene Masse entstanden ist. 3 - Formen Sie kleine Bälle und legen Sie diese mit etwas Abstand auf ein Backblech, damit sie beim Aufgehen nicht verkleben. 4 - Stellen Sie das Backblech in den vorgeheizten Backofen (180°C) für ca. 25 Minuten oder bis die Käsebrötchen goldbraun sind.

YOKI was established in Brazil in the 1980s by Yoshizo Kitano, a japanese entrepreneur and immigrant who aimed to bring more convenience to people's lives offering easy, affordable and high-quality products. He has changed the food market over the years by exchanging flours and grains that were sold in bulk for packed products. Furthermore, he introduced microwave popcorn to Brazil and created the first ready-to-eat „farofa“.
The name YOKI has two meanings: it stands for the first two letters of the name and surname of its founder, Yoshizo Kitano (YO - KI). In Japanese it means happiness, achievements, well-being and prosperity.
