This soft, white panela cheese is made from skimmed milk. Panela is easy to cut but does not crumble. Due to its slightly rubbery texture, it ‘squeaks’ a little when bitten into.
Panela cheese is slightly salty and is usually eaten on its own or with other ingredients as a snack or starter, or sliced into a salad. It is also often cut into thick slices for sandwiches or used to make fried cheese, as Panela does not melt when heated.
