BOHEMIA is considered to be Brazil's first beer: a beer of the highest quality, made with imported ingredients and by a brewery that has been dedicated for over 160 years to alchemising the original recipe to transform the raw material into a masterpiece.
The BOHEMIA brand was founded in February 1853 in the city of Petrópolis/RJ by the German immigrant Henrique Kremer. When it was founded, BOHEMIA had all the characteristics of small, typically German breweries, including quality.
The beer soon became famous in the region for its flavour and high quality and became one of the most popular beers at the court of Emperor Dom Pedro II. Over the years, the beer adapted to the tastes of Brazilian consumers and took on the characteristics of other existing brands: slightly smoother and less bitter, to reach the traditional quality standard of today.
